Berlin Schonefeld Airport

Description

Berlin Schonefeld Airport is an airport used by private jets in Berlin, Germany. It has a maximum runway length of 3,600 meters. There is only one runway in total at the airport.

Berlin Schonefeld Airport is the secondary international airport of Berlin, the capital of Germany. It is located 18 km (11 mi) southeast of Berlin near the town of Schonefeld in the state of Brandenburg and borders Berlin's southern boundary. It is the smaller of the two airports in Berlin, after Berlin Tegel Airport, and is a base for easyJet and Ryanair. In 2017 the airport handled 12.9 million passengers by serving mainly European metropolitan and leisure destinations. Schonefeld Airport was the major civil airport of East Germany (GDR) and the only airport of the former East Berlin. Part of Schonefeld's existing infrastructure is set to be incorporated into the neighbouring Berlin Brandenburg Airport, scheduled to open in late 2020. Schonefeld's then refurbished terminals are intended to be used until at least 2026 as part of the new airport

Sometimes referred to as EDDB - its ICAO code - on private jet quotes, for example, it can also be called SXF - its IATA code name. Both these shorthands are used by aircrafts to refer to the airport.
