Helsinki-Malmi Airport

Description

Helsinki-Malmi Airport is an airport used by private jets in Helsinki, Finland. It has a maximum runway length of 1,280 meters. There are in total of 2 runways at the airport.

It is an airport in the city of Helsinki, Finland, located in the district of Malmi, 5.4 NM (10.0 km; 6.2 mi) north north-east of the city centre. Until the opening of Helsinki Airport in 1952 it was the main airport of not only Helsinki but also Finland. Today, the airport is still actively used in general aviation and flight training. It still is the second-busiest airport in Finland after Helsinki Airport, as measured by the number of landings. For a long time, the City of Helsinki has had plans to close the airport to use the area for construction of new residential zones, but that decision had been debated and deferred for many years.

Sometimes referred to as EFHF - its ICAO code - on private jet quotes, for example, it can also be called HEM - its IATA code name. Both these shorthands are used by aircrafts to refer to the airport.
